– How was your passion for fashion born?
From a very young age, my grandmother sewed on a home machine. I, with interest and curiosity, began to sit on her legs and pretended that she was sewing. Over time, when I was older, I was able to do a few tests on that same machine. Then, when I was 16 years old, I decided to make a dress… without having the slightest knowledge, but it was the impulse to want to learn more about fashion. Since then, I have been striving to obtain the current results. With perseverance and passion, I have managed to be who I am today.
– How did you start to develop your career in Peru?
I arrived in this beautiful country four years ago and, since then, there have been days of many opportunities and learning. Also to be thankful, because God has given me the opportunity to grow up in a country that is not mine. I appreciate the warm acceptance that my style has had when creating pieces and contributing to fashion. I feel happy to create for this country.
– Tell us about your experience working with Rosángela Espinoza, Cassandra Sánchez, Yely Rivera and Janick Maceta.
When I was given the opportunity to dress Peruvian artists and have them show off my creations, more than three years ago, I felt very happy. I am a show and entertainment lover. Currently, I meet with the artists to brainstorm what is desired in the final product. It is essential to be close to them so that the final result is what we expect.
My experience working with them (Rosangela Espinoza, Cassandra Sánchez, Yely Rivera and Janick Maceta) because they have different styles and you have to carefully analyze their tastes in terms of cuts, colors and textures. In addition, we must take into account the approach and message they want to convey. More than working, I have been able to meet them and I am currently close to them. I am in a very large area in terms of garment making.
– How do you evaluate the evaluation of Michelle Soifer’s style, now that she is promoting her career as a singer?
Michelle Soifer is a woman who makes an impact just by seeing her. Her current style goes beyond her career as an urban artist. She is an outgoing, happy girl and there is no denying that she is very pretty. It is easy to work with her, to exchange ideas and combine to achieve what we both want to convey through her wardrobe. In the end, we have a result that we both feel comfortable with. She feels comfortable and impressive. It is always a pleasure to work with her and her projects.
– Your work has also stood out on the catwalks of Miss Peru, tell us about this experience.
The experience in Miss Peru has just begun. I left my country with the hope of continuing to work in the world of misses, as I had been doing for 13 years. In 2021, I was given the opportunity to dress Janick Maceta. She contacted me to dress her for the 2021 crown delivery. A couple of months passed and I was called to dress Miss Peru 2021, Yely Rivera, for Miss Universe.
I have not yet been able to process that joy of dressing a Miss Universe contestant, since everything has happened very quickly. Recently, I was able to dress Miss World Venezuela, Alejandra Conde, for the photo shoot of the event. In addition, I have worked with the participants of the Miss Grand International. I feel very happy to work with the representatives of my country.
– Do you think that the role of fashion currently plays an important role in empowering women?
The empowerment of a woman comes from within herself, from her mind and her heart. However, it is much easier to convey all this if the outfit she wears makes her feel confident and beautiful. Fashion plays an important role but it is vital that women, first, believe in them to convey their beauty.
