The Ugandan Chelimo and the Kenyan Ebenyo immediately made it clear who would be in charge by imposing an exceptional pace, even more impressive considering the light and snappy pace. When passing through the first two laps, Chelimo seemed not to be breathing down the neck of Daniel Ebenyo, the two, elbow to elbow, increasingly separated from the group of pursuers made up of the Rwandan Yves Nimubona (US Quercia) and the two Burundians Celestin Ndikumana (ASD Atl Futura Roma) and Egide Ntakarutimana (Atl. Casone Noceto). The Italian Iliass Aouani (GS Fiamme Azzurre) was further behind. The race was sparked by small changes in the lead, before the Kenyan Daniel Simiu Ebenyo took the lead for the final sprint, a true success announced by his smile and raised arms as a sign of victory right from the moment he entered the track, when the athlete began to ask for the audience's applause. Magical finish for Daniel Simiu Ebenyo who closed the race with great ease in 29'16” and stopped on the finish line to applaud and cheer on his opponents, fully embodying the values of sport. Place of honor for Oscar Chelimo, who after third place in 2022 and fourth in 2023, surrendered to Ebenyo's attack and climbed back onto the podium with a time of 29'22”. Third place Yves Nimubona (US Quercia). Iliass Aouani was only eighth in 30'31” immediately followed by teammate Pasquale Selvarolo (GS Fiamme Azzurre) in 30'39”. Third Italian is Luca Alfieri (Atl. Casone Noceto) in 30'44”. My first cross country in Europe, I'm happy to have won on a challenging course, I knew I was fine after the record in India. My preparation is aimed at the next World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade on March 30th, obviously passing through the Kenyan cross country trials. My big goal will be a half marathon in April to attempt the world record. Great sensations, I had a lot of support on the course and I had fun. I hope to be invited and come back again next year,” said winner Daniel Ebenyo.
