Celaya, Guanajuato.- This morning they arrived in Celaya, Guanajuato, 500 elements of the National Guard, to combat the high rates of insecurity, which position the city as the fifth most dangerous municipality.
Guanajuato is the second most violent entity in Mexico. One of the most important cities for its different economic, cultural and social activities is Celaya, however, it is also a city that suffers from great insecurity and crime.
“Guanajuato is among the six entities with the most intentional homicides in the country“, reported during the morning of last Thursday, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, Head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, through data reflected in the Monthly Security Report for February.
As part of the national security strategy to lower the rates in the states that presented the most intentional homicides, a special operation will be implemented, this will be in: Guanajuato, Michoacán, Baja California, State of Mexico, Jalisco and Chihuahua.
According to information from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, the city registered 33 intentional homicides in January 2022 and 38 more homicides in February according to the latest report issued.
The National Guard arrived in the state to operate under the strategy implemented by the Municipal governmentthe coordination will be multidisciplinary by working together with the security units of the Security Secretariat.

The objective of the security strategy in Celaya is to guarantee well-being from all three levels, the municipality reported. The elements will support inter-institutional operations in public security tasks. Having specific tasks in terms of arrests of federal order in coordination with the Attorney General of the State of Guanajuato.
