Mexico City.- 47 percent of malware downloaded in the last 12 months has come from the cloud, according to figures from Netskope.
The cybersecurity company detected malware downloads from 257 different applications, 10 of these apps account for 75 percent of downloads of viruses and malicious programs from the cloud.
This reflects that attackers tend to take advantage of popular apps to reach more victims, since users are more likely to download malicious programs in them because they interact continuously.
“Given this panorama, organizations have to be aware of how many losses an attack is equivalent to for their business, they have to know who has access to the data and how the information is being protected.
“45 percent of security failures in the cloud are the fault of users due to bad configurations or practices,” said Alain Karioty, vice president of Netskope for Latin America, in a media meeting.
On the other hand, the remaining 53 percent of attacks were downloaded from traditional sites.
Trojans account for 77 percent of malware downloads from both the cloud and traditional sites.
Regarding the presence of Netskope in the country, Karioty assured that they will be making investments to increase their participation in the Mexican market.
The firm also built a data center located in Querétaro to serve its clients.
