Three miners were killed in an explosion at the Gaysky mine and processing plant in the Orenburg region, Russian news agencies reported, citing the regional prosecutor’s office, on Saturday.
The office also said that the remaining 88 workers had been evacuated.
The Gaysky Copper and Zinc Mine and Smelting Complex is one of the largest Russian copper mines. It is located at the far southern tip of the Ural Mountains, near Russia’s border with Kazakhstan.
