The fifth generation of the Range Rover will get a fully electric variant, but that EV-SUV will only join the range in 2024. If you can’t wait that long, you should take a look at this Hongqi E-HS9…
Overview :
The Hongqi E-HS9 is a 5.2-metre, 100% electric luxury SUV that targets premium SUVs such as the Audi Q8, BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. Because this Chinese is coming to Europe. On October 29, 2021, a cargo will depart from the People’s Republic to Norway, the European country with the highest number of electric cars. According to Hongqi, the luxury brand of the FAW group, it already has 500 signed order forms for the E-HS9 in its pocket.
It is not yet entirely clear whether Hongqi’s European conquest plans extend beyond Norway alone.
Rolls Royce
In profile, the Hongqi E-HS9 resembles a Range Rover, but the sturdy face is reminiscent of Rolls-Royce. And that’s no coincidence, because the lines of the luxury SUV were created under the supervision of Giles Taylor. Until 2018, the Briton was still head of design in Goodwood, at Rolls-Royce.
The Hongqi E-HS9 is coming to Europe – so only to Norway for the time being – in two power versions and with two battery packs. The entry-level variant combines two 218 hp electric motors and is powered by an 84 kWh battery, the top version replaces the electric motor on the rear axle with a 350 hp one and relies on a 99 kWh battery. The driving range is 396 and 465 kilometers respectively, and fast charging is possible up to 110 kW.
