Yesterday, the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, the Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, witnessed a ceremony honoring a group of officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, civilians, retirees, and male and female national service recruits from various specializations, winners of the seventh session of the Armed Forces Award for Excellence and Innovation, which It came in appreciation and motivation for outstanding performance, and to encourage positive competition, in the presence of senior leaders and officers of the Ministry of Defense.
The seventh session witnessed a noticeable increase in the number of entries by more than 16%, as 51 individual innovations were presented, 45 collective innovations, 28 individual industrial innovations, 13 collective industrial innovations, 28 individual research, 28 group research, nine individual research for educational bodies, and nine Collective research for educational bodies, in addition to 173 creative ideas.
The judging work for this session was held during the period from February 25, 2024 to last March 12, during which all applicants for the award were interviewed.
The Assistant Undersecretary for Support and Defense Industries at the Ministry of Defence, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Armed Forces Award for Excellence and Innovation, Major General Dr. Mubarak Saeed bin Ghafan Al Jabri, said in his speech during the honoring ceremony: “In a world where changes are accelerating at an unprecedented pace, the country’s wise leadership realizes the importance of excellence.” “And innovation are two basic pillars to ensure sustainable progress and prosperity.”
He added: “Since the founding of the state, our leadership has been keen to plant the seeds of excellence and innovation in various fields, believing that these values are the key to success in a world that is becoming more competitive day by day. Al Jabri continued: “On a long journey full of support for distinguished members of the armed forces led by the late founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, since the unification of the armed forces on May 6, 1976, and based on a long legacy of excellence and innovation, he directed His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, may God protect him, by launching the Armed Forces Award for Excellence and Innovation in 2017.”
He stressed that this award represents an eternal symbol of excellence and innovation, and is not just an appreciation for individual achievements, but rather an expression of an enlightened leadership vision that believes in the importance of technological progress in achieving the country’s aspirations during the next 50 years, by honoring the distinguished and innovators in various scientific and technical fields and fields of intelligence. This award seeks to encourage creativity and innovation, and to support efforts to develop the research and development system in the armed forces.
He pointed out that this vision is considered a roadmap towards a promising future, as it emphasizes the necessity of investing in the human element, providing opportunities for it to highlight its creativity, and providing innovative solutions to the challenges facing the armed forces.
