The general secretary of the PSC-PSOE and parliamentary spokesperson, Pablo Zuloaga, has assured that “today Reinosa and Cantabria are crying out against the management of the PP for the dismantling of public health that is being carried out by the PP Government, the Government of María José Sáenz de Buruaga”. “Today there was a great mobilization today in Reinosa, Campoo and Cantabria where some 9,000 people united their voices, their presence to a generalized demand of all citizens,” he noted.
This is what Zuloaga said after attending the mobilization held this Saturday in Reinosa against the dismantling of healthcare in Campoo, which was also attended by the Secretary of Organization of the PSC-PSOE and national deputy Noelia Cobo; the regional deputy Raúl Pesquera and the general secretary of the PSOE of Reinosa and spokesperson in the city council, Sergio Balbontín.
“The citizens of Cantabria are here today, they are in Reinosa, they are in Campoo demanding precisely this, that public health is public and that it does not have cuts like those that the PP is carrying out. We see it in primary care, we see it in hospitals, we see it in the ambulance service, we see it in each of the areas in which public health can be cut and the PP is doing it.”

The leader of the Cantabrian socialists has insisted that “the Minister of Health, César Pascual, is a failed counselor who is attacking the interests of citizens and this is especially true in the Campo region where, as the unions have expressed , On up to 15 occasions they have been without an emergency doctor who attends a regional hospital.
In fact, he recalled that “we have had to regret that there have been patients who have died without being attended to due to the lack of professionals in the hospital and this, which we are experiencing today, is a cry. A cry to stop the PP cuts and for public health is defended by the institutions”.
For this reason, Zuloaga said, “from here the Socialist Party of Cantabria and Reinosa together with Sergio Balbontín defends public health in Cantabria once again.”
DISMANTLING
Likewise, he stated that “the Reinosa health center collapsed this year and the government of the last legislature left 1.2 million euros of European funds to carry out a rehabilitation that the Popular Party has decided not to carry out.” “and, therefore,” he continued, “the reality today is that the Health Center is closed and the population is neglected.”
In this sense, he has also reiterated that “the Reinosa hospital has never, in other legislatures, been unattended by health professionals in its emergencies and unfortunately in this legislature we are seeing how there are patients who die without being attended to because there are no professionals.”
“The dismantling of public health in Cantabria is being carried out by the PP, which also on the first day of its legislature spoke of a business health and in reality what there is is the healthcare business, where they understand that patients stop being patients and become clients,” he stated.
For this reason, the parliamentary spokesperson also declared, “the Socialist Party is forceful in the defense of public health. Today the PP is not managing a pandemic or the consequences of the pandemic, today what the PP is doing is not taking the decisions that have to be made to guarantee that public health meets the demands of the citizens of Cantabria”.
And, “unfortunately we also see how private healthcare in Cantabria is growing above the average in our country, we unfortunately see how the PP is causing the citizens of Cantabria to have to invest their savings in paying for private insurance because they are beginning to distrust the public health of Cantabria”. And this, he concluded, “is what cannot be, this is what today these 9,000 people in Reinosa have wanted to claim.”
