Hamshahri: Zelensky does not hold elections in Ukraine to keep power
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is diligently trying to explain why it is currently not possible to hold elections in the country, since he wants to maintain his power, writes Iranian newspaper Hamshahri.
“The important thing is not that the elections themselves will not be held, but how this topic is used,” the publication explains.
The author emphasized that in this way the person who caused the country to have a military conflict with a neighboring superpower will continue to remain in power, instead of resigning, which he should have done. It is noted that since Russia launched a special military operation (SVO), martial law and general mobilization have been repeatedly extended in Ukraine, which had a certain impact on the election date.
Earlier, Zelensky announced his intention to run for a second term in the next presidential elections. He also made a promise that he would not leave Ukraine.
