Having technical, technological and scientific employment is one of the main objectives for which The first European STEAM office is launched in Zaragoza within which different actions will be carried out to promote these vocations and attract young people between 11 and 18 years old to STEAM methodology.
This office -located in the Etopia center, Center for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology-, was created within the European STEAMBRACE project promoted by the Edelvives Group and which, now, has the collaboration of the Zaragoza City Council, thanks to the agreement that the company and the consistory have signed. This project, chosen in Europe from more than 20 proposalswill allow this school to be used to promote the STEAM methodology, based on the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Art.
With a contribution of European funds of 2,884,085.75 eurosduring three years We will work to carry out STEAM education, co-create and carry out training activities for students from 11 to 18 years old, in addition to other events and events for academic professionals.
Through the office, standards will be established to validate a certification. In this way, all people who have received the training will have a document recognized at European level that will prove this knowledge.
In addition, national and European conferences and competitions will be organized to awaken vocations in these fields, especially with the intention of attracting interest among women.
Preparatory actions will also be carried out for the first week STEAMwhich will be a first pilot project for future innovative women. A highlight of this project is that it will not only transcend Zaragoza. The programming that will be carried out within STEAMBRACE will be developed under the premise of universality so that it can be introduced and applied in all countries of the European Union.
These will be the main lines of work that will be developed from the European STEAM office through this agreement signed by the mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, and the general director of the Edelvives Group, Javier Cendoya. In the presentation, Chueca highlighted that Zaragoza “is once again at the forefront creating a pioneering office”, in addition to pointing out that anticipates “the demands of society”promoting creativity and new ways of learning”.
For his part, Javier Cendoya recalled that Edelvives has been focusing on STEAM education for 11 years. A line of activity that is now reinforced with the leadership in Ethiopia of the European STEAMBRACE project, which “allows us position Zaragoza and Aragon as a European epicenter of educational innovation. We project Zaragoza as a benchmark in creativity, technology and educational inclusion, connecting training with the needs of the future of work.”
First congress in Spain
In addition to this European office, Zaragoza will also host among the February 6 and 8 the first STEAM congress in Spain to promote this methodology in Zaragoza society.
The congress will thus delve into introducing this philosophy to children from an early age, apart from raising awareness about the importance of training about it in the companies, institutions and entities involved.
