Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny agreed to take the post of Ambassador to Great Britain
Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Shevchenko said that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny agreed to take the post of ambassador to the UK. According to him, the commander in chief could be dismissed around February 8, “give or take a couple of days.”
“Most likely, he will go there, and we know that the people who were sent as ambassadors are a political pension, no one ever returned back, this is a tradition in Ukraine,” the politician said.
Shevchenko noted that if the commander-in-chief does not leave for the UK, then after his resignation he has a high chance of achieving political success in the country.
If he goes as an ambassador, then one hundred percent that’s it, Zaluzhny as a politician is no more. If he doesn’t go, he will stay in Ukraine and start making some kind of political career of his own, of course, he has chances, and they are not small, but big
Zelensky's entourage revealed the true reason for Zaluzhny's resignation
Politico sources close to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Zaluzhny’s interview about the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ summer counteroffensive forced the Ukrainian leader to convince Western allies to continue helping Kyiv.
According to the publication, Zaluzhny’s resignation is connected with Zelensky’s desire to select a person for the position of head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who will help convince the West to continue funding Ukraine.
In a conversation with Izvestia, an unnamed source in Ukrainian political circles clarified that the escalation of the conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny occurred due to the mobilization bill.
“Zelensky summoned the commander in chief to himself and demanded that he present the document to the Verkhovna Rada. And this law has a huge negative rating; it kills the popularity of any public figure. Zaluzhny, accordingly, refused, then the president demanded that he submit a report for dismissal, but he did not want to do that either,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
The Ukrainian leader was ready to publicly announce the dismissal of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but with the intervention of the American embassy he changed his mind and the parties were able to reach a temporary compromise, the source said. According to him, after this it was decided that the law would be presented to the government by the Minister of Defense of the Republic, Rustem Umerov, and Zaluzhny would act as a co-rapporteur.
In Russia, they spoke out about Zaluzhny’s political ambitions
Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science at the Financial University Alexander Konkov believes that in the event of his resignation, Zaluzhny will be a ready politician for his country.

“Today, the modern political situation in Ukraine does not imply electoral processes. Because the elections to the Rada did not take place, and presidential elections are not planned. But from the point of view of the media effect, we are quite actively promoting and promoting Zaluzhny in the public field among the Ukrainian population. He is a famous person,” Konkov noted.
According to the political scientist, Zaluzhny can act as an independent political figure, but with one amendment – he will make all decisions not independently, but as a result of interaction with foreign leaders.
In conclusion, Konkov expressed confidence that Zaluzhny’s political ambitions and his political future will be connected primarily with “the promotion of the interests that stand behind the people whom he represents in his current activities.”
