The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, jokingly answered British Foreign Minister Liz Truss about Russia’s alleged desire to annex the Baltic countries.
“And Liz Truss is not as simple as it seems. The Englishwoman has figured out our insidious plans to capture the Kaliningrad region, ”wrote the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in her Telegram channel.
Liz Truss the day before in an interview with the British tabloid The Mail on Sunday warned that “Russian President Vladimir Putin will take over Ukraine and will definitely not stop there.” The next, according to Trass, will be the countries of the former USSR from the Baltic side.
On February 10, during a meeting with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Liz Truss refused to recognize Russian sovereignty over Voronezh and Rostov. The ambassador had to correct her.
On February 16, Estonian intelligence in an official report announced that the Russian “invasion” of Ukraine had been postponed until the end of February. The reason why it has not taken place so far was called “the unpreparedness of the Russian army.”
Recently, Western politicians and media representatives have spread numerous speculations about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied such statements. Moscow emphasized that it had no plans to invade Ukraine, and that all measures for the combat training of troops were carried out within Russian territory.
As the Russian side emphasized, such accusations are being used as a pretext to place as much NATO military equipment as possible at the Russian borders.
