That of Nintendo PlayStation is one of the most fascinating stories in the gaming industry, and it YouTuber James Channel he wanted to relive it first hand by building a sort of reproduction of the famous prototype that was recently purchased for $360,000.
To be honest, the workmanship definitely appears artisanal and the result is not exactly elegant, but at least it achieves the desired result: a console that brings together some features of the Super Nintendo and some of the PlayStation, only that it is not exactly an exact replica.
The YouTuber, essentially, took an old Super Nintendo, even a decidedly yellowed one, opened the chassis and used it to insert the hardware components of a PlayStation inside, complete with a bizarre optical reader protruding into the space dedicated to cartridge slots.
A very rustic workmanship
It's not exactly a hybrid car, given that it appears to be one in all respects PlayStation in the shape of Super Nintendobut the intent was clearly playful, as demonstrated by the decidedly undelicate procedure followed to build the contraption as well as the game used to demonstrate its potential, namely the mythological PepsiMan.
In short, we are quite far from the magical aura of true prototype of Nintendo PlayStation, the console that should have emerged from the collaboration between Nintendo and Sony and which instead represented the start of the history of PlayStation.
What is supposed to be the only prototype was recently sold at auction and ultimately purchased for the remarkable sum of $360,000.
