In Montmelò with updates
Fresh from the unsatisfactory results of Le Mans, with Alex Rins finishing on the edge of the points zone and Fabio Quartararo crashing in his home GP, the Yamaha will be back on track this weekend for the Catalan Grand Prix with interesting technical innovations. The Japanese manufacturer will in fact debut with one new hull on the Montmelò circuit, tested by both drivers last week during the private tests held at Mugello.
The feeling with Montmelò
Aerodynamic updates which could therefore contribute to a concrete step forward for the team and the two drivers, starting with Quartararodetermined to forget the disappointment of Le Mans to recover on a track that saw him as a protagonist in MotoGP with two successes in 2020 and 2022: “After the private test in Mugello, we chose an aerodynamic version which we will test here this weekend – explained ‘El Diablo’ – I am curious to see what it will be like. We will certainly do our best, as always. It’s a GP sponsored by Monster Energy, so the team is fully motivated. Barcelona is also one of my favorite circuits: I’ve had some great races here, especially in 2022. We made a step forward with the setup at Le Mans, so let’s see if we can get some good results this weekend.”
The air of home
A very heartfelt appointment also for Alex Rinswho will aim to reconfirm himself in the points in his native Catalonia: “This is the first Monster Energy GP of the season and it’s also my home GP, so definitely this one adds a little extra emotion – he has declared – we worked hard to try to make the most of the extra time on track that the private test at Mugello gave us. This weekend we will have a new aerodynamic package available, the version I liked. So, all in all, I can’t wait to start racing in Montmelò.”
