In an emotional message to the nation, Xóchitl Gálvez, candidate of the coalition formed by the PAN, PRI, and PRDaccepted his defeat in the recent presidential elections in Mexico.
During his speech, Gálvez highlighted the need to move from the discord of the campaign to a phase of reconciliation and national unity, while promising to continue his vigilant work from the opposition.
Criticisms of the electoral process
Gálvez expressed concern about the fairness of the electoral process, describing it as “deeply inequitable” and criticized the “systematic intervention of the executive branch” as well as the “factious use of social programs.”
He also pointed out that these elections have been the most violent in the country’s history, highlighting an environment of tension and challenge for democracy in Mexico.
Commitment to the Future
Despite the defeat, the candidate pledged to continue defending several causes important to her, such as support for search mothers, women’s rights, indigenous peoples, the fight against corruption and the promotion of clean energy.
“Now is the time to leave behind the bitterness of campaigns to move on to a phase of reconciliation in which what unites us is privileged”stated Gálvez.

Gálvez deeply thanked the political parties that nominated her, as well as the citizens and ‘xochi lovers’ who supported her campaign.
“Thank you for your vote, thank you for your enthusiasm, thank you for your effort,” he said, extending his gratitude to the militants and sympathizers of the PAN, PRI and PRD, and to all the officials and polling station representatives who participated in the electoral process.
Looking to the future, Gálvez promised to remain steadfast in his fight for a Mexico where “life, truth and freedom” are respected. She defined herself as a “warrior who will never stop fighting for a Mexico in which democracy is respected.”
