For weeks we have been talking about the first electric car from Xiaomi, the SU7. And it couldn't be otherwise given the numbers that are also circulating in these hours: it seems in fact that the Chinese company has blocked 75,723 orders for its electric sports sedan starting from April 24th, and that it is aiming to deliver over 10,000 units of the model as early as June. This was announced by Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, who directly from the Beijing Auto Show reiterated how a delivery target of this magnitude effectively establishes a record for the launch of an electric vehicle.
10,000 deliveries in June
For blocked orders, all of which arrived less than a month after the launch of the new Xiaomi SU7 around the end of March, are those in which buyers opted for non-refundable deposits. A rather important injection of confidence from the Chinese public, therefore, which is why the company has made it known that it wants to focus solely and exclusively on its home market for a few more years. “Our idea is to maintain our automotive business 100% focused on the Chinese market for the next three years“added Lei Jun.
Play in advance
We remember that with the new SU7 Xiaomi had chosen to play in advance, deciding to start deliveries of the Standard and Max versions of its first EV on April 18th, translated 12 days before than initially expected. Now the Chinese company is looking ahead, and says it is ready to start deliveries of the Pro version of the model by the end of May.
Xiaomi SU7 on the market
On the Chinese market, the new Xiaomi SU7 will be marketed in two versions: the basic one with a range of up to 668 km on a single charge, and the one with a larger battery for a range of up to 800 km. As for production, Xiaomi's cars will be assembled by a unit of China's BAIC in a factory in Beijing. Precisely the version with 60 kWh battery should have a price close to 28,000 euros.
