After the success of Mix Fold 3, the Chinese company is focusing on a high-end clamshell, Mix Flip, with a presentation expected within the first half of 2024.
Xiaomi already moves with ease in the world of foldable smartphones and recently presented Xiaomi Mix Fold 3.
Characterized by a slim design and luxurious specifications, such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and the prestigious Leica lenses, this device is, however, intended exclusively for the Chinese market.
The future of Xiaomi foldables will instead see the arrival of a clamshell; the device initially emerged in recent months when, in September 2023, it appeared in the IMEI databases with the model code 2311BPN23C.
Recently identified again on the MIIT certification site, it will bear the name of Mix Flip and seems to promise notable specifications.
The first rumors regarding a folding clamshell smartphone from Xiaomi date back to 2022. As reported by Android Headlines, there are now concrete plans for its introduction.
It could be submitted by first half of 2024according to industry rumors.
Shell-satellite exchange
Passing the MIIT certification suggests that the Chinese giant has already planned the presentation of Mix Flip.
As for the features, there are few details that emerge from online rumors.
Although you navigate by sight, among the leaked information the possibility of carrying out seems to stand out satellite callsa feature already present in devices from other manufacturers such as OPPO.
It is important to note that the adoption of this technology is subject to the laws of each country and, at the moment, it seems that this functionality is limited to China only.
Moving on to the technical characteristics, Xiaomi Mix Flip should be based on the platform Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of Qualcomm and present a photographic section intriguing.
The design features the inclusion of a centrally positioned front camera, accompanied by three rear cameras aligned horizontally.
At the moment, no information is yet available on the resolution of the sensors, but the presence of a main wide configuration, an ultra wide angle and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom is assumed.
Looking forward
Although the processor is not the most recent and acclaimed Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it is plausible that this choice was motivated by economic considerations, following the premium trends of the previous year.
Furthermore, rumors suggest the presence of three rear cameras, presumably equipped with Leica lensesin line with the consolidated tradition of the manufacturer.
Regarding its debut, the Chinese source indicates that the launch of this innovative device is scheduled for the first half of 2024.
However, it is important to note that this information is currently only a hypothesis, so it is recommended to take it with a fair amount of skepticism.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi is preparing for global launch of series 14including the basic and Pro models.
Announced in China last October, they were the first smartphones to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and to operate with the HyperOS operating system.
According to online rumors, the international debut of the series is expected at the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, from February 26 to 29, with the precise date scheduled for the 27th.
