According to a new rumor launched by eXtas1s via the Exuter portal, Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Xbox Series X|S within the month of June and at launch it will be included in the catalog of PC and Xbox Game Pass.
“eXputer has learned, via sources who wish to remain anonymous, that Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler 2 is coming to Xbox Series X|S this month, although the exact date has not been confirmed,” says Extas1s.
“It will be an Xbox Game Pass game on day-one, along with the first game in the franchise (Octopath Traveler), which may also be added to the subscription service.”
What’s new during the Xbox Game Showcase?
This is clearly a tip-off to be taken with a grain of salt, like all the others that are leaking out in a few days at the summer conferences, but entirely plausible. In fact, it was Square Enix itself that announced a conversion of Octopath Traveler 2 for Verdicrociate consoles due out in 2024 during the Xbox Digital Broadcast which took place at the Tokyo Games Show last year, even if on this occasion there was no mention of the possible inclusion of the game in Game Pass. All that was missing was a more precise release date, which, if the rumors are confirmed, will be revealed at‘Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for 7pm on June 9th.
For those who don’t know it, Ocotpath Traveler 2 is a Japanese-style role-playing game where players experience eight different stories (unrelated to those of the previous chapter) from the perspective of as many playable protagonists and characterized by a classic turn-based combat system and a retro graphic style adapted to the present day, also called HD-2D. The game is already available on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, if you want to know more, please refer to our review.
