Microsoft has decided to tweak the price Of Xbox Series X and Series S in Japanwith a maneuver that is rather unprecedented especially considering it is the second time it has happened, increasing it further.
It is a adjustment based on inflation and local market conditions, as explained by the Redmond company, but it is not an easy thing to see in a market where prices usually tend to go down, also to accommodate a greater diffusion.
It is also true that we find ourselves in a particular economic situation, which has already previously led to an unprecedented price increase for consoles, starting with PS5 and which subsequently also affected Xbox consoles.
Let’s see how much they will cost now
The situation is therefore quite peculiar. As a result of this revision, these will be the new prices of Microsoft consoles in Japan starting from August 15:
- Xbox Series
- Xbox Series S 1TB (Black) – 44,578 yen → 49,978 yen
- Xbox Series S 512GB – 37,978 yen → 44,578 yen
This way, the Xbox Series X costs around 416 euros, the 1TB Xbox Series S costs around 310 euros and the standard Xbox Series S comes in at 277 euros.
In fact, these are official prices that are still lower than those found in the West, net of further discounts applied by retailers, so it is understandable that an adjustment was made considering the devaluation of the yen that has occurred in recent years.
The problem is that Japan is a traditionally very difficult market for Xbox and even the new consoles are struggling to establish themselves in this territory, and such a move certainly does not help their already complicated situation.
