The story of a Rover
The game opens with a fairly enigmatic video. After choosing ours avatarbetween one with female features and one with male features, we will find ourselves faced with a girl, similar to a goddesswho in space will shake our avatar’s hand, imprinting on him a sign which seems to have a very particular power, before sending it at full speed towards a planet, Solaris-3. Before our adventure begins… we won’t know anything else. In fact, two girls will wake us up: YangYang And Chixia, who in a few minutes will try to understand, with limited success, who we are… given that we too will not remember anything at all. For this reason, the name that will be given to us temporarily will be that of “Rover” (Wanderer, Wanderer).
Without telling you too much about the plot from this moment on, we will set off with the girls towards the large nearby city, which apparently also functions as their headquarters. However, during the short journey, a lot of things happenlike the meeting of a very powerful creature ready to kill us, and the discovery of different powers of our Rover which make him a more special individual than one imagines.
The game world
The game world in Wuthering Waves is vastand as in every open world self-respecting, it is littered with both environmental puzzles and enemies. The style, we reiterate again, is strongly inspired by Genshin Impact, therefore in addition to fighting with the various creatures, we will be engaged in the resolution of puzzlein the collection of objects that can act as ingredients for the preparation of food and more, unlock portals for the quick travelundertake timed challenges complete with rewards, finding treasure chests, and much more. All clearly proceeding along the way main story and accepting side missions.
Everything we do will obviously give us rewards, which can vary from objects, to common currency, up to “premium” currencywhich is what we will use to purchase “slot rolls” to obtain characters or weapons from the various banners available.
Especially in the first few hours of the game, this could be a little confusing for new players, while those more accustomed to this type of title will have their money’s worth.
The world design of Wuthering Waves is indeed derivative, but without a doubt fascinating. We are faced with a world of fantasy shadesbut which on balance is actually a science fiction, with a balance that will certainly be able to satisfy appreciators of both genres. We are also satisfied with one graphic quality not bad for an open world, which despite being based on the cartoon style, comes out very refined compared to other types of cel shading more “smooth”. Of course we are enormously far from what certain AAA titles in the industry present us, but what you will see will certainly not leave you dissatisfied.

Combat System
The combat system it is certainly one of the most interesting things about Wuthering waves, not only because of some elements it stands out a lot from competing titlesbut because it has good fluidity, and features that make it unique and very fun to play.
Let’s start from the fact that initially we will only have 3 characters (Resonators) to be alternated in addition to the Rover (before unlocking others with banners), which will be the two mentioned and Baizhi. Each character will have their own element (Between Aero, Electro, Fusion, Glacio, Havoc And Spectre), and of ability details. Of these, those standard “elements”. to use in combat are rechargeable with cooldown, while the Finishing Moves they will charge as you fight, and they are truly devastating.
This however is only the tip of the iceberg, because Wuthering Waves also hides a couple of very tasty mechanicssuch as the companions’ entry attack when we change between one character and another (and yes, from time to time we will see them on the field at the same time, on a visual level), and above all the possibility of “capture” monsters. That’s right: some of the enemies, if you’re lucky, will release theirs when defeated “Echo”a sort of aura, a remnant, which you can absorb for use a specific power of that creature in battle! Not only that, these creatures will also give you characteristic bonuses, increasing your stats (a bit like the artifacts in Genshin Impact ed.).
If we wanted to give a univocal definition of everything, we could say that the combat system and the exploration of Wuthering Waves are more like a “game”, and less like a “puzzle”. Sure, obviously to maximize effects, damage etc. you will have to build your own perfect team of Resonatorsbut you’ll still feel like you have possibilities, even if you’re not built the best.
Between menus and considerations
Something else than the game It takes a lot from similar titles… and the management of anything. From the menuincreasing the level of characters, managing pulls, duplicates, increasing the power of skills, the map, milestones, resources to redeem rewards… in short, it is practically everything already seen. Despite this, there is no doubt that Wuthering Waves shine with your own light.
We can certainly say that the developers of Kuro Games were able to look around very well while creating their game, because in fact, they managed to create a very very good user experience. Let’s talk about little thingsbut also of Important things, which when combined are very noteworthy. For example, the possibility of playing directly with the mouse or keyboard without having to select it in a menu, the gliding and grappling hook unlocked from the start of the game, the huge gifts and free pulls for new players, the lowered cap for having a character or a weapon 5 stars guaranteed, and even gods special banner types never seen before… in short, a lot of irons in the fire, which is about to be cooked just right.
All this, plus the scale of the game itself, is capable of to encourage the current state many players starting their adventure in Wuthering Waves. If the care of the game will be the same in the future (and we will really need a lot of it, being a continuous title), we have it ahead of us the first real competitor of Genshin Impactwith a truly exhilarating quality.
Sure, we can say that there are not only plus pointsbut also some discordant noteslike one plot that again he can’t really take it the player, of excessively long explanations and even unclear at the same time, and unfortunately the lack of the Italian language, which we do not expect to be included too soon (if it is included at all). Without these flaws, Wuthering Waves is to say the least a title with some enormous potential in the gacha world.
