Néstor Girolami and Esteban Guerrieri hit a fantastic double for Honda in Race 1 of the FIA WTCR in Most.
The two Argentines from ALL-INKL.COM Münnich Motorsport took the lead on the first lap and with their Civic Type Rs built by JAS Motorsport they did nothing wrong for all 15 routes.
At the start Girolami got a better start than the poleman of the inverted grid, Petr Fulín, but the funnel of the first corner immediately created a lot of confusion. A multiple touch between Norbert Michelisz, Yvan Muller, Nathanaël Berthon and Fulín himself saw the latter two KOs.
The Safety Car had to go into action to remove the Frenchman’s Audi RS 3 LMS and the Cupra Leon Competición of the local brand idol Fullin Race Academy, then exiting the scene on lap 4 for a restart that Girolami and Guerrieri managed very well.
Néstor ran away, while Esteban could not keep up with his companion-friend, having to concentrate fully on keeping behind the Cyan Racing Lynk & Co 03 driven by Yann Ehrlacher and Muller, as well as that of Thed Björk (Cyan Performance) at complete the Top5.
At the start, the Hyundai Elantra N of Jean-Karl Vernay (Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team) and Michelisz (BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse) also tried to make their way, but they did not go beyond the sixth and seventh place, with the Hungarian who manages to keep up with the Cupra of the new TCR Europe Champion, Mikel Azcona (Zengő Motorsport) for a long time.
Good fight also for the ninth place that in the end sees the Spaniard’s teammate, Rob Huff, pass the Audi of Tom Coronel (Comtoyou DHL Team) to the penultimate lap, who wins in the WTCR Trophy dedicated to private competitors and completes the Top10 ahead of Gabriele Tarquini’s Hyundai (BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse) and Santiago Urrutia’s Lunk & Co (Cyan Performance).
The points also go to the Hyundai of Luca Engstler (Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team) – best Junior – plus the Audi of Frédéric Vervisch (Comtoyou Racing) and the Cupra of Bence Boldizs (Zengő Motorsport Drivers’ Academy), which he leaves to empty handed the Honda of Tiago Monteiro (ALL-INKL.DE Münnich Motorsport).
Gilles Magnus (Comtoyou Racing) out for other problems with his Audi and Attila Tassi (ALL-INKL.DE Münnich Motorsport) for a puncture on his Honda.
