Without balancing weights to slow down their Cupra Leon Competicions, the Zengo Motorsport drivers were able to fight for the top in difficult conditions on the track hosting the F1 Russian Grand Prix.
Azcona triumphed in Race 1 by recovering from eighth place on the grid, fighting alongside Huff in the Audi of Gilles Magnus and Frederic Vervisch, before the Spaniard overtook Jean-Karl Vernay’s Hyundai on the last lap and secured his first victory of the season.
The Cupra rider was denied the second victory in Race 2, when Yvan Muller’s Lynk & Co hit the beret before a restart from the Safety Car.
However, this put Huff – who had retired in Race 1 after a collision with Vervisch – up to second place behind Néstor Girolami.
The British reached the Argentine’s Honda overcoming it, and then resisted an electrical problem by taking the primacy he had been missing since 2018.
“We had seven retirements and at least two opportunities to win: one in Budapest and one here – said Huff – In Budapest I made a mess, but here we managed to get the most out of it”.

“The car was really fast right from the first free practice, when it was already wet.”
“Then in Race 1 I think Mikel and I did a fantastic job as teammates to get him to first place.”
“Unfortunately Fred and I had a contact and my car had the worst, otherwise I think we would have scored twice.”
Azcona, who scored four podiums in 2021, added: “It’s been a season of ups and downs for us.”
“I’ve been looking for this win since the beginning of the year, so I’m really happy.”
“I felt really good in the wet. I wanted to finish the season with a double win, which would have been incredible for me and for Cupra Racing.”
“I want to enjoy this moment with my team. It’s the best time to be together relaxing and enjoying the end of the season.”
