One, two and three. She had never made it yet Toprak Razgatlioglu to conquer in Superbike, in the same race weekend, the success in Race-1, SuperPole Race and Race-2. Today in Donington he broke the curse, reaching his two great opponents in this particular statistic: Alvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea. This feat for the Turkish rider from Yamaha arrived in Great Britain, on Rea’s home track, in two days of challenges on the track that now strongly relaunches the reigning world champion in full contention for the race to a bis world champion, so far considered as unlikely.
In the third race of the weekend Razgatlioglu was simply perfect, always leading a race leading and dividing his race practically into three parts: first a stoic resistance on Rea’s Kawasaki, who tried to take the lead in every braking without being able to put his own wheel in front; then the escape, with an extension that tenth after tenth put the Northern Irish ‘cannibal’ at a distance, who appeared in serious difficulty in the second half of the race; finally the management, when in the last laps an unleashed Bautista tried in every way to score a comeback that would have been sensational.
The Spaniard from Ducati, who in theory should only have tried to limit the damage today, was the surprising protagonist of the second half of the race. In fact, the former Honda rider, after letting Rea vent in pursuit of Toprak, came back under him until he was able to overtake him in the last stages of the race. A fundamental attack, which allowed him to re-extend to +17 in the standings, at least partially canceling the crash of Race-1. Behind the three phenomena was placed an excellent Michael Rinaldi, who preceded Redding, Lowes, Bassani and Locatelli on the finish line.
