Wreckfest 2 has been announced with a trailer during the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2024: this is the new episode of the series developed by Bugbear Entertainment, the team behind the famous FlatOut saga.
Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|SWreckfest 2 aims to relaunch the hilarious formula that so many users appreciated with the first chapter, as well as to propose a car body deformation technology even more realistic and sophisticated.
As you may know, in fact, the original Wreckfest was intended as a sort of spiritual sequel to the classic Destruction Derbywithout however limiting itself to demolition races and also including numerous traditional challenges in its campaign.
Driving powerful muscle cars but also unlikely vehicles, from lawnmowers to buses, the game asked us to to express all the violence we were capable of as we tried to demolish our opponents and/or cross the finish line first.
Even more noisy: the trailer
The original Wreckfest launched on Steam in 2018, following the end of a long journey in early access which allowed developers to refine and enrich the experience, which then also landed on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
The sequel will try to push the accelerator even more, we have no doubts about that, and the trailer you see above already gives a first idea of the exaggerated atmospheres that we will be able to breathe during the races, between one bump and another.
Since several years have passed since the release of the first Wreckfest, it is reasonable to expect a substantial improvement in technologies employed by Bugbear Entertainment, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out the details.
