The two-way fight between Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans for the victory of the ACI Rally Monza Italia and the Drivers’ title continues to be exciting.
Also in PS4, the 22.11-kilometer Costa Valle Imagna 2, Ogier and Evans were separated by just 9 tenths, but in favor of the French. This means that now the advantage of the transalpine against the Welshman is equal to 6 “5 after the first 4 tests.
Behind them Thierry Neuville is confirmed in third place with the first of the Hyundai in the standings. The Belgian has improved since the morning, but it is clear that, at least so far, the Toyotas have a performance advantage over the Korean cars.
After the first 3, only Takamoto Katsuta and Kalle Rovanpera got a time, because then the rehearsal was stopped to allow the medical staff to help a spectator who felt ill.
The marshals displayed the red flag and thus suggested to Sordo and the drivers who followed him to complete the test in transfer. This will have to lead the race marshals to give set times to the drivers who failed to take part in the test in a competitive way.
As for the WRC2, the new champion Andreas Mikkelsen finds himself in front of everyone at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 of the TokSport team. Behind him, 15 “0, is his teammate Marco Bulacia WIlkinson. Third place instead for Jari Huttunen, on his first outing with the Ford Fiesta Rally2 M-Sport.
The morning lap, as well as the tests outside the Monza circuit, are over for today. Now the drivers will be able to take advantage of the mid-day Service to prepare the cars for track tests. The first of the three afternoon tests will be the PS5, the Cinturato 1 of 14.49 kilometers. The first car, the Toyota Yaris WRC number 1 of Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, will enter the special at 13:45.
