WRC | Rally Croatia, SS6: Neuville punctures. Evans one step away from him

In Special Stage 6 of the Croatian Rally, the 10.13 kilometer Ravna Gora – Skrad 2, comes the first twist of the fourth round of the WRC season.

Thierry Neuville saw the advantage that, until the previous round, he had managed to gain over Elfyn Evans destroyed due to his own mistake. During the last sector of the test, the Belgian hit a rock and damaged the front right tire, arriving at the finish line of the test without the tyre.

At the start of the test he started with 2 Soft and 2 Hard crossed. One of the two Softs that he had brought with him for the afternoon lap was damaged: this means that for the next test – short and rather dirty – he will have to run with only one Soft tire and will be in a worse position than his rivals.

In this regard, thanks to the puncture that slowed down Neuville in the last sector of the special, Elfyn Evans managed to almost completely eliminate the delay that separated him from the Hyundai Motorsport driver.

From 10″1, his gap from Neuville has been reduced to just one tenth and in the next race he will have the first shot – perhaps the only one of the day – to overtake him in the general classification of the event.

Sébastien Ogier also took advantage of this, second in qualifying, 1″1 behind his teammate. The 8-time world champion moved back to 18 seconds clear of the event leader.

Ott Tanak, however, managed to fend off Adrien Fourmaux's attacks for fourth position by setting a good time, just 2 seconds slower than Evans' reference. The Estonian now has a 7″7 advantage over the first driver of his former team, M-Sport Ford.
