Hey, that’s like a Polo, but different
Right, this is the new Volkswagen Polo. Or the facelift, just what you want. Volkswagen signed a new set of taillights that consist of two parts and a sportier nose. That way it would look more like the Golf. For Volkswagen concepts, it is still quite a radical facelift. In addition, it now has standard air conditioning (the previous one you could really order without), lane assist and it always comes with a digital dashboard instead of analog counters. Plus: it is 2,000 euros cheaper
Huh, was the old Volkswagen Polo that expensive?
No, but they’ve come up with a new slip-on. So the renewed Volkswagen Polo, which is cheaper, is also less equipped than the outgoing version. But with that digital counter. You prefer to go for one step higher, because then you have at least alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control and a rain sensor.
Okay, and how does it ride?
The first thing you notice when you get in is that a good seat is quickly found. Even if you are a bit taller, you can sit comfortably without having to make a choice between the knees against the dashboard or the steering wheel too far away. In terms of ergonomics, it is not much inferior to a Golf. The chassis is comfortable with a firm edge and the steering wheel feels light. Modern tires provide enough grip, but otherwise it is not an exciting car to drive. So the Polo exactly meets expectations.
Is there a bit of spice in the new Volkswagen Polo?
We drove the version with 95 hp and a DSG. The performance is just acceptable for normal handling. Inserting is fine, as is overtaking. He leaves more than enough room for the upcoming GTI with 200 hp. There is another version with 110 hp, but if you really want more pace, you have to grab a segment higher. The DSG is clearly tuned for economy, so it quickly goes high in the gears. Of course you can simply downshift yourself with the flippers.
Conclusion?
The new Volkswagen Polo is again very well put together and often gives the impression in many areas that it is a segment higher. You can also look good with it. If you don’t need the space or speed, you could leave a Golf in front of it. The downside is that it’s not all that exciting.
Small mistake in the Polo
