lThe NGO of the Spanish chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK), claimed this Tuesday to have distributed more than 50 million meals in Gaza after suspending its field operations in April, when seven of his aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
For her part, WCK spokesperson and press officer, Linda Roth, reported that the NGO received “about 100 trucks” last week that crossed the border from Egypt with supplies to supply these kitchens.

From WCK they are now trying to open a new supply route from Jordan, where boxes of prepared meals ready to consume immediately would enter, explained the WCK spokesperson.
For now, WCK is not developing its operations in northern Gaza, where it is more difficult for its convoys to reach from Egypt and where, according to Torpey, there are areas where people have “difficulty finding food and clean water.”
Before discontinuing operations in April, WCK had already distributed more than 43 million meals in Gaza, which represented 62% of all aid from international NGOs in the Strip, according to data from the entity.
After the attack, José Andrés called for an independent investigation into the incident and unsuccessfully urged the United States, Australia, Canada, Poland and the United Kingdom, countries of origin of the deceased aid workers, to join this call.
At least 196 aid workers have died in Gaza since October, according to the United Nations.

‘There may already be famine’
“It is possible, if not probable, that famine already exists,” Fews Net said in a study, adding that this situation will persist at least until July unless there is “a fundamental change” in food distribution.
