Usually, some filter clothes made of “polyester” in particular, due to its properties that raise body temperature, and thus give it a feeling of warmth to overcome low temperatures.
It is also customary to wear clothes made of wool and leather for the same purpose, so which of these fabrics is best suited for winter?
The director of the Center for Allergy and Immunity with Serum and Vaccine, Dr. Amjad Al-Haddad, said in exclusive statements to “Sky News Arabia”, “Only clothes made of cotton are recommended in the first place during the winter.”
He added, “It is not recommended to wear clothes made of wool or polyester, given the characteristics of each type of fabric. There are clothes that give the body warmth and contribute to a high temperature, but it exposes it to colds, given its properties and components, such as polyester.”.
He justifies this by saying: “Wool or polyester clothing raises the body temperature excessively, and when you wear it throughout the day and take it off after that when you return home, the body is exposed to a thermal shock, because the body has been exposed to severe heat, and therefore it may cause him to catch a cold.” immediately after taking it off.”
The director of the Center for Allergy and Immunity with Serum and Vaccines in Cairo explains that “in contrast to cotton clothes, which give warmth to the body with its distinctive characteristics, and at the same time maintain normal skin temperature, and if sweating occurs, it is absorbed.”
And he continues: “Cotton is the first that is recommended in this context, because when it raises the temperature, it is not to the degree that leads to thermal shock, compared to other clothes.“.
As for allergy sufferers in particular, Al-Haddad indicates that they are “prohibited from wearing clothes that contain lint or woolen clothes, because they affect them in particular compared to others, and cause them degrees of sensitivity in the nose and mouth.”
As for children, Al-Haddad indicates that it is also recommended to wear cotton clothes in the winter, preferring it over clothes made of wool or polyester; Protect them from exposure to colds in the winter. The same is true for children with allergies.
At a time when many are keen to wear the “keffiyeh” to give the neck area and even the face warmth in the winter, it is also recommended to use the “keffiyeh” made of cotton, not wool, so that this area is not exposed to thermal shock when taking off the keffiyeh during sleep or inside rooms closed, and then catch a cold.
