Women’s league: they propose a parallel initiative to the Dimayor, the Dimujer

The discussion and uncertainty continues regarding the possible realization of the Women’s League in Colombia in the second semester.

To date, only 4 teams have confirmed their participation, América, Cali, Millonarios and Cortuluá. 4 more teams are expected to announce the championship.

New proposal

Meanwhile, this Monday an initiative was learned to strengthen the women’s league in 2023.

It is a proposal from America, through its owner, Tulio Gómez, and his daughter Marcela Gómez, president of the women’s team.

In dialogue with the program Los Dueños del Balón on ‘Antena 2’, Tulio assured: “With my daughter we are already structuring a project to present it to Dimayor and the assembly, there we propose a women’s league… It’s basically like creating a a ‘Dimujer’ who has a manager, who has a mourner for this sport, someone who seeks to finance” said Gómez.

The leader and businessman insisted on the importance of giving equity to the economic resources with respect to the men’s league: “Just as the men’s teams receive monthly money for things like television rights, we also want the women’s league to have it,” said.

“We are looking for support from Conmebol and resources everywhere, so that in 2023 we have a women’s tournament parallel to the men’s. In which the first and second semesters are played; and that also has its own television, marketing rights and that people also accompany us going to the stadiums,” he added.
