The Greek Police have opened an internal investigation against six Greek police officers who allegedly denied help to a woman who a few minutes later was murdered by her ex-partner in front of the police station where she had gone to ask for protection, the Government reported.
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Mijalis Jrisojoidis, head of the Police, said this Thursday, April 4, that he is “devastated” by the case and assured that The internal Police investigation is being carried out “at great speed.”
According to the local press, among the six agents, who were relieved of their positions and transferred to other Police departments, there is also the commander of said police station.
The 28-year-old woman had gone with a friend to the police station to request that a patrol escort her to her home, since he had seen his ex-partnera 39-year-old man with a history of violence against public officials and drug possession.
Although the woman told the agents that her ex-partner “it was violent” and had “psychological problems”the police told her that she had to file a complaint against him or request a patrol vehicle by phone herself.
In a video published last Wednesday, April 3, by the station MEGA, It is observed how the woman speaks on the phone in front of the police station to request a police escort, when she recognizes the aggressor addressing her.
The images show how the attacker reaches her and stabs her fatally several times when the woman tries to take refuge at the police station.
The incident occurred around 19:00 GMT last Monday at the door of a police station in Athens, right next to the sentry box where an agent was.

The Prosecutor's Office has also ordered an investigation into possible criminal responsibilities of the agents.
Another woman reported, through the station MEGA, that two years ago she showed up covered in bruises and marks at the same police station to report the beating she had received from her husband and the officers told her to go home.
“The police officer who was at the joint told me that I couldn't go up because they were on another case,” he noted, adding that the agent told him he better leave.
