Wine, so the whites have surpassed the reds. The world ranking of producers
For what concern wine in the lasts 20 years many things have changed, those that were considered fixed points are no longer so and there has been a evolution as for i consumption. This is certified by the analysis carried out by Wine Monitor. Here are – reports Gamberorosso – the main changes in the world wine scene in the last 20 years. The most striking fact concerns Italy (but it also applies to the rest of the world) has definitely changed production by type and color. If in 2004 they were the red representing more than half of the production (of the 53.1 million hectoliters total in 2004, the reds represented 28.7 million hectoliters vs. the whites at 24.4 million hectoliters) today that relationship appears reversed: out of a production of 38.3 million hectolitres, the reds recorded just 14.5 million and the whites 23.7 million.
But first of all, in this period of time, the Consumer countries. If in 2004 – continues Gamberorosso – it was there France leading the classic (33.2 million hectoliters consumed), with Italy in second position (28.3 million), followed by United States (24.8 million), today it is the latter who have secured the top step of the podium, arriving at 34.3 million hectoliters consumed. As a result they also became the first country for importsdoubling the values (from 2.7 billion euros to 6.2) and exceeding the United Kingdom (today at 4.6 billion). In the ranking of exporters, however, they resist France (with a value today of almost 12 billion euros) e Italy (7.7 billion), while Australia (third place in 2004) was overtaken by Spain and Chile.
