All ingredients seem to be there.
As you know: the A-segment is as good as dead in Europe. There are still a few brands active, but don't expect any successors. The margins are extremely small. While the requirements from the EU are becoming increasingly strict.
Anyway, the B-segment is the next refuge for budget-oriented customers, although that segment also has fewer and fewer participants.
B-segment car with hybrid
But good news: one is coming! MG is announcing a completely new car, the MG 3. This car could be very interesting for the Netherlands. Why? Well, MG is generally a brand that provides its models with a competitive price tag. This B-segment hatchback is equipped with hybrid technology.
It is not clear how electrification takes place, but every gram of CO2 you save can yield thousands of euros of 'benefit'. MG mentions 'the possibility of emission-free driving. We count on at least a normal hybrid setup, not a 48V system that should not actually be called a hybrid. Kapsalon with an extra cucumber should not be counted among the vegetables.
Cheap model
The current MG3 is available in other markets such as the United Kingdom and Australia. In terms of price, it is approximately at the level of the Dacia Sandero, which is the cheapest B-segment car in the Netherlands. So this MG3 seems to have good credentials to at least reach the top 10.
The MG 3 that is coming will be the third generation. The first generation came in 2008, but was basically years old. The car was actually called the MG3SW and was nothing more or less than a Rover Streetwise with a few minor adjustments. The Streetwise in turn was a Rover 25 that stood high on its legs. And the Rover 25, which is actually a facelift version of the Rover 200.
