Astro Bot It was a success, as far as we can see at the moment. Critics gave the video game high marks and the very first indications of sales seem positive. The game has just been released and we know that the team is now ready to create additional free content to expand the work. If we were to look a little further, however, what would we see?
In other words, what are the Astro Bot 2 Possibilities?
Words from the director of Astro Bot
In a recent interview on the Friends Per Second podcast on the YouTube channel SkillUp, when asked about the future of Astro, the director of Astro Bot and head of the Team Asobi studio, Nicolas Doucetbriefly explained that whatever the studio does in the future “will have to be something new,” rather than something the same.
“Getting a character off the ground is very, very difficult, if you think about any IP,” he said. “The Astro IP is also very flexible, so we’ll continue to think about new gameplay ideas. It should be something fresh. This is also very important to us. We don’t want to always do the same things, [come Astro Bot] 1.5. So time will tell.”
Clearly Doucet remained vague, since Team Asobi itself most likely does not have a very precise idea of how to continue intellectual property. It is also possible that Sony will ask the team to dedicate themselves to a chapter for PlayStation VR2, for example, or the company will decide that it is convenient to create several paid contents for Astro Bot in order to reinforce the economic success of this chapter.
While we wait for news, we also remember that the Astro Bot team criticizes unnecessarily long games and explains how they are more democratic than others.
