The new prices included that the customs dollar is set at 16 Egyptian pounds in import operations.
Several years ago, during the reign of the current Finance Minister, Mohamed Maait, Egypt stopped setting customs rates for the dollar and the rest of the currencies and left the matter linked to the exchange rate in banks.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Egyptian Customs Authority circulated a circular of carry prices No. 55 of 2022 at foreign exchange rates in various ports of Egypt.
The authority said that the price circular is determined by a decision of the Minister of Finance issued on Monday, and it will be implemented from March 22, 2022 until April 21, 2022.
The decision was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 52 of the Executive Regulations of the Customs Law issued by Ministerial Resolution 430 of 2021.
The General Department of Information in the Central Department of Policies and Procedures has included the prices contained in the circular on the computer network of the Customs Authority for its implementation and implementation.
According to an official source in the Egyptian Customs Authority, he told “Sky News Arabia” that the aim of resuming work on setting customs rates for foreign currencies is to control the prices of imported goods and not leave them subject to severe price inflation, after the Central Bank’s decision to raise the interest rate on deposit and borrowing, which resulted in a rise Large in the price of the dollar against the pound.
The source stressed that the import operations are currently governed by a set of government measures that make them directed primarily to the necessary and basic commodities that the country needs.
Egypt had previously issued a circular specifying the price of the customs dollar per month before stopping that last period.
