Guadalajara, Jalisco.- Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is living his first week after defeating Puerto Rican Edgar Berlanga for the unified belts.
The Guadalajara native had a great year in professional boxing. In two fights at super middleweight he defended his WBC, WBA and WBO titles to remain number one.
In May, he defeated fellow Mexican Jaime Munguía by unanimous decision. ‘Canelo’ won with official scores of: 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112.
Shortly after, he did the same against Edgar Berlanga with results of: 117-110, 118-109 and 118-109 to remain at the top of the 168 pounds.
Before returning home, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was asked who is more difficult, Edgar Berlanga or Jaime Munguia. The super middleweight champion had this to say:
“They both have their thing, you can learn from them both, they are good fighters and surely if they dedicate themselves and do things they will be world champions,” he declared to the media.
Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez has a record of 62 wins (39 by ‘KO’, 23 by decision), two draws and two losses in 66 boxing matches.
