White House disagrees with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s criticism of the US
White House National Security Council (NSC) strategic communications coordinator John Kirby responded to Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s warning against the United States about the inadmissibility of confrontation and did not agree with the minister’s criticism of Washington’s policy. “I would say the same thing that we have been saying for so long: we are looking for strategic competition with China, we are not looking for conflict,” the American official said.
Kirby added that there is nothing in Washington’s approach to bilateral relations that would suggest a desire for confrontation. The coordinator also declined to clarify whether the United States is discussing sanctions against China if Beijing decides to provide military assistance to Russia. He added that the United States does not consider such a scenario likely.
