WhatsApp stopped working on Android devices with outdated OS as of October 24
The popular WhatsApp messenger has stopped working for some Russians since October 24 due to the end of support for Android devices with an outdated operating system (OS). The application is only available for Android OS version 5.0 and higher.
Previously, WhatsApp supported Android devices with operating system 4.1 and later.
It was reported in September that WhatsApp would no longer be available on smartphones with an outdated operating system. “Starting October 24, 2023, only Android OS versions 5.0 and higher will be supported,” the company warned. They also assured that before support for the operating system is discontinued, users will be notified about this in the messenger itself.
Previously, WhatsApp introduced the ability to use two accounts at the same time. The company explained that in order to create a second account, users will need another phone number and SIM card.
