WhatsApp and Instagram down. Problems for the messaging app and the social network, both belonging to Mark Zuckerberg's Meta galaxy, today evening, 3 April 2024. The downdetector site, which collects reports of anomalies and failures on the network, around 8pm highlighted a boom in user alerts not only in Italy, with messages sent and characterized by a single tick on the sender's screen.
The problems with WhatsApp, in particular, have been found internationally with the inability to send messages both via mobile phone and via the web from France to Germany, from Spain to Brazil, from the United States to Australia. The inconveniences also extended to Facebook and Messenger, judging by Downdetector reports.
As always happens in these cases, the hashtag #whatsappdown quickly took off on X. The WABetaInfo profile, always informed about news regarding the messaging app, announced that “WhatsApp is currently having problems with the servers”.
Around 8.40pm Italian time, WABetaInfo published a new post: “It appears that WhatsApp is restoring its messaging service. Some features such as last seen information and online status may not be available yet.”
A few minutes later the message from WhatsApp's Twitter account read: “We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we're working to get things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible.”
