At the moment, the company has not notified the reasons for the incident
The messaging ‘app’ WhatsApp and the social networks Facebook and Instagram have suffered a drop this afternoon at the level that prevents users from sending messages and using the applications correctly. On Instagram, when updating the application, the message appeared: ‘The news cannot be updated’ while on WhatsApp, for example, the clock stayed spinning and messages were not sent.
The incident was collected by the digital services panel ‘Down Detector’, where in a graph you can clearly see the moment when the problem occurred and how the number of reports received on this website was skyrocketing. The problem affected all content loading operations (such as publications, photos or comments) on Facebook and Instagram and the sending of WhatsApp messages, as could be seen in report pages such as Downdetector.
So far, the instant messaging company has not reported any incident through Twitter, where several customers have reported the problems detected.
Before the fall of the applications, thousands of messages were published on Twitter under the hashtag #WhatsAppDown or #InstagramDown, which report the fall of the service globally.
