WhatsApp will allow us to find the conversations we are looking for more quickly through filters that exclude or include categories.
Finding the right chat on WhatsApp can be a challenge for the most active users, who participate in many groups and are in contact with several people at the same time, both for work and for fun.
Aware of this, Meta, owner of the messaging app, has introduced a new filter for chats, with the aim of making the search for conversations more fluid and immediate.
The company decided to implement three main filters which will allow users to better organize their chats: All, Unread and Groups.
As stated by Meta itself: “We believe that using filters will make it easier to organize chats, find the most important conversations and make browsing through messages more efficient.”
Three new labels
On the app display, we find three selection options positioned at the top.
The first is “All“, the default selection that includes all chats present.
The second is “Not read“, which only filters chats that have not yet been opened and read.
Finally, there is “Groups“, which groups together all group chats, allowing you to view them separately if necessary, including community subgroups.
In the future, it is expected that the company will continue to develop this idea, offering more search possibilities to users.
We could see the introduction of custom filters which allow you to find specific messages, for example, showing only groups with a certain contact in them or those that include images.
More news
WhatsApp has communicated through its official channels that the distribution of the new chat filters feature has started and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
's blog post concludes with the words: “We'll continue to create more options to help you focus on what matters most,” implying that WhatsApp is aware of the room to further improve filters and introduce more new features in the app.
The latest news on the platform includes several changes in both beta and stable versions.
Among these, we find the introduction of a new suggestion system to start new conversations and a photo editor enhanced by artificial intelligence.
