“We need more digital expertise,” says Tina Müller

While companies paint themselves green, the natural cosmetics manufacturer Weleda has always been organic. But the challenges for the new boss Tina Müller are great: it's about impact and growth.
FTina Müller decided on Weleda after visiting the natural cosmetics manufacturer's medicinal plant garden in Schwäbisch-Gmünd. For several hours, the manager was shown around by the Swiss natural cosmetics manufacturer's chief biologist. She looked at the insects that settle there to eat pests. Müller inspected fallow fields for regeneration and composting, and there she learned why the company does not use chemical fertilizers.
And even though she of course knew the brand and its anthroposophical history, it was only then that the manager really realized what Weleda stood for. And how this is also reflected in the work of the gardeners. After her departure from the Douglas cosmetics company, Müller was approached by many human resources managers. Weleda is not the most obvious employer; with 2,500 employees and a turnover of 430 million euros, the natural cosmetics manufacturer is comparatively small; he is just over a tenth the size of Douglas. But he is also a manufacturer with a complete supply chain, which impressed Müller.
