Double standards in investigations too: US refuses to investigate Ezgi Eygi
Aysenur Ezgi Eygi was shot in the head by an Israeli sniper on Friday while attending a demonstration against the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in Beita, south of Nablus. She was a 26-year-old American citizen. The Israeli forcesthat day like all the other days, they fired real bullets, stun grenades and tear gas against the demonstrators. There are eyewitnesses who said that Eygi was intentionally targetedeven though it posed no threat.
Despite there being overwhelming evidence and videos indicating the guilt of Israeli soldiers, U.S. officials said Washington did not yet know “with absolute certainty what happened”stressing that they are waiting for the results of an Israeli investigation. In short, the alleged murderers are being left free to investigate themselves and their crimes. For 11 months, the US and the world have allowed Israel, among other things, to investigate its own violations. It is the only state in the world that has demanded, and obtained, the “right” to judge itself. and to whom a patent of indemnity has been granted. It is necessary to become aware of this dystopian and dangerous paradox that the USA and the Western world are legitimizing. An obscene right granted to them by the American “big brother”, thanks to a robust and widespread Zionist Jewish community, supported by the network of Zionist “Christians”, extremists and fanatics, economically powerful, who send hundreds of millions of dollars to Israel every year.
On Monday, then yesterday, the United States also rejected calls for an independent investigation into the fatal shooting that killed its citizen. State Department Spokesperson Vedant Patelin front of the audience of journalists who were pressing him, he refused to acknowledge that Eygi was killed by an Israeli soldierbut called for the trial to “take place and for the facts to be gathered.” At the press conference, Pendel also urged Israel to “conduct its investigation swiftly and firmly” and to make its findings public, but confirmed that the administration is not planning to independently investigate the murder, as requested by Eygi’s family.
And he added: “We are working closely to establish the facts, but there is no State Department-led investigation underway.” For 11 months, whoever the spokesperson for the American government is, the same phrases have been repeated. And for 11 months, no clarity has been made on the thousands of murders, massacres, crimes committed by Israel, in Gaza as in the West Bank.
The latest carnage was just a few hours ago: Israel hits tent camp in southern Gaza, near Khan Youniskilling at least 40 Palestinians and wounding 60, while attacks continue across the territory. The Israeli army, as usual, claimed to have targeted a Hamas command center. In reality, the ones hit were tent cities of displaced Palestinians, mostly women and girls who were literally buried under tons of sand. The crater caused by the bomb is 9 meters deep and rescuers are digging in the sand even with their bare hands in the hope of finding someone still alive. Since October 7, almost 41,000 Palestinians have been killed, while over 94,000 have been injured.
