The Senate of the Republic is the scene of a new chapter in the political contest, since the National Action Party (PAN) announced its determination to challenge the recently published Pension Fund for Welfare.
Julen Rementería, leader of the PAN party in the Senate, claims to have gathered the necessary signatures to present an unconstitutionality action before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), thus challenging the recent reform of the Pension Fund for Welfare Law and putting its operation in suspense, which includes the first payment scheduled for July 1.

In an interview with Proceso, Rementería confirmed that they are about to formally present this challenge for unconstitutionality, which they consider essential to stop the controversial reform.
“For the issue of pensions, the signatures have already been collected, the ones that are needed. We have more than that, we have an excess, enough to be able to stop it and we are going to do it, there is a time limit, we are going to do it before the thirty days,” explained the PAN senator.
Meticulousness is key in this process, since they are reviewing every detail of the unconstitutionality action to ensure its success before the ministers of the SCJN.
Rementería confided to Proceso that the robustness of their argument will guarantee them a victory in this legal battle. “The resolution of the SCJN, I believe that, with the unconstitutionality action, due to its robustness, we are going to win it, that will be the result.”
