Big changes in the Balance of Performance of the FIA World Endurance Championship in view of the 6h of Imola which will take place next week.
FIA and ACO have published the tables relating to the weight and power parameters that the 37 cars entered will have to adopt on the Santerno, 19 in Hypercar and 18 in LMGT3, naturally very different compared to Lusail given the completely different nature of the Emilia-Romagna circuit.
Starting as always from the Queen Class of prototypes, all the cars will have changes compared to the 1812Km of Qatar which opened the 2024 season just over a month ago, with drastic weight drops for some, among which the -34 kg removed from the Ferraris stand out 499P, which will now travel on a total minimum weight of 1041 kg while also benefiting from a maximum power of 510 kW (+7 kW) and 904 MJ of energy per stint (+2 MJ), activating all-wheel drive from 190 km/h in forward, which will apply to all LMHs that adopt the hybrid system at the front.
The second car to 'lose weight' the most is the Toyota, which despite losing 29 kg still finds itself running at 1060, with an increase in power to 516 kW (+6 kW) and energy to 916 MJ (+2 MJ) .
However, the GR010 Hybrids will not be the heaviest on the grid because the brand new Peugeot 9X8 now approved with rear wing, wheels of different sizes and revised aerodynamics will weigh 1061 kg, with 510 kW of power and 906 MJ of energy available. Clearly , being a newborn model, FIA-ACO were cautious in assigning these data, having as references those of the wind tunnel in the homologation phase and not those of the track.

To complete the discussion of the LMH models, the Isotta Fraschini drops significantly, brought to 1058 kg (-27 kg) and seeing its power increase to 520 kW (+6 kW), with 920 MJ of energy (+3 MJ).
Moving on instead to the LMDh which compete for absolute success in the first category, the Porsche which dominated far and wide in Qatar will lose 15 kg reaching 1033 kg, rising to 508 kW of power (+3 kW) and 901 MJ of energy (+1 MJ).
Nice drop also for Alpine and BMW, from which 28 and 25 kg are removed respectively. The A424s will run on 1042 kg, with power increased to 514 kW (+4 kW) and energy remaining at 909 MJ, while the M Hybrid V8 will be on a total of 1035 kg with 511 kW of maximum power (+5 kW) and 905 MJ of energy (+1 MJ).
Important change also for the Lamborghini because if the weight is reduced to only 1034 kg (-7 kg), the increase in power is up to 516 kW (+14 kW), as well as the energy which rises to 908 MJ (+ 13 MJ).
These last two, however, are not the highest parameters, which instead belong to the Cadillac: +18 kW and MJ of power and energy for the V-Series.R, reaching 517 kW and 908 MJ total, losing a couple of kg to run about 1030 of minimum weight.

LMGT3
Various modifications are also released for the LMGT3 Class, with changes in weight and power for most of the registered models.
The Ferrari 296 GT3s gain 8 kg, reaching 1339 and losing 1 MJ of energy per stint (677 MJ total). The Ford Mustangs also gain 3 kg, now at 1329 kg, gaining 3 MJ in energy (699 MJ), while a couple of kg are assigned to the Porsches, which in any case are on the total 1317 kg and 1 to the McLaren (1328 kg total).
However, 13 kg were removed from the Aston Martins, which thus became the two lightest cars of the lot with 1306 kg, but also losing 9 MJ of energy per stint (680 MJ hour).
Small increase in energy (+1 MJ) for BMW and Corvette, Lamborghini and Lexus instead grow by 4 and 5 MJ respectively in this sector, with the Huracan also seeing a change in the maximum inclination of the rear wing.
From Imola the Success Ballast system also comes into force which imposes 15, 10 and 5 kg on those who got on the podium in Qatar and occupy the top positions in the championship standings based on the last two races held.
In addition, the top weight is taken by the #92 Porsche of Manthey Pure Rxcing, followed by the #27 Aston Martins of Heart Of Racing and #777 of D'Station Racing.
Finally, the parameters imposed by the tire suppliers, Michelin and Goodyear, were also published regarding pressures and camber to be respected along the ups and downs of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari.
