With this podcast we want to banish old myths. Contrary to the negative view with which menopause has traditionally been portrayed, many of those interviewed defend having found the positive side of this vital moment. Some even talk about having felt a “liberation”. Over the course of five episodes, in ‘We Menopausal Women’ we hear from gynecologists, sexologists, nutritionists, pharmacists, physiotherapists and even experts in physical activity. Episode 1: The market for hormonesIn this first episode the women of the Empathy Center participate, health professionals and authors of the book ‘Ladies. A comprehensive guide to living your menopause fully from a critical and feminist perspective.’ We also meet the pharmacist and scientific communicator Marta Masi and Pluvio Coronado, gynecologist and president of the Spanish Association for the Study of Menopause. Episode 2: Fire inside When the hormones are altered and we enter menopause, hot flashes, fatigue, tiredness… As if this were not enough, it is impossible to lose weight and fat accumulates around the belly. But you don’t have to resign yourself. In this second installment we talk with the gynecologist Miriam Al Adib, the expert in women’s health Marta León and the specialist in high-level women’s sports practice Alberto García-Bataller.Episode 3: Sex does not end hereTalk about Sex in the midst of the hormone revolution is not only timely but necessary. Vaginal dryness and changes in libido are common at this stage and are usually accompanied by guilt and shame. In this episode we turn to sexologists Adriana F. Camaño and María Ramos. The first speaks from the Empathy Center and the second attends us at Destinokink, an erotic store in the Trafalgar neighborhood in Madrid. Episode 4: The roller coaster of emotions The number of emotions that can accumulate during menopause is many: uncertainty, fear, loneliness, sadness, insecurity, frustration, guilt… But the truth is that when changes are accepted and solutions are sought, at this stage we can feel not only liberated but also more secure and with fewer complexes. We spoke with Patri Psicología to advise us on how to ensure that menopause is not an emotional brake. In all episodes, our ‘meno-women’ also participate, who wanted to share their experiences to shape this project: Ana, Araceli, Elena, Lorena and Noris.Credits Narration: Raquel Alcolea Interviews: Raquel Alcolea and Blanca Nava Script : Raquel Alcolea, Andrea Morán and Blanca Nava Sound design: Rodrigo Ortiz de Zárate Sound assistant: Íñigo Martín Ciordia Illustrations: Rodrigo Parrado Direction: Andrea MoránAll episodes of ‘Nosotras, las menopausicas’ can be found on the main audio platforms, such as Spotify, Ivoox, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and Podimo.
