Peskov considers Kyiv’s call for the UN to come to Kursk region a provocation
The invitation by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha to representatives of the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to visit the captured settlements of the Kursk region is a provocation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
We expect that such statements will not be perceived by the addressees. Of course, we expect a sober assessment of such provocative statements
He responded to Sybiga’s words that his department would officially invite the UN and the ICRC “to join humanitarian efforts in the Kursk region.” According to the diplomat, observers are supposedly supposed to ensure that the Ukrainian military complies with humanitarian law, as well as that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are protecting civilians.
The Defense Forces of Ukraine, as a civilized European army, demonstrated high professionalism and full compliance with the principles of international humanitarian law
In Kyiv they claimthat civilians in the Kursk region have received and are receiving humanitarian aid, satisfaction of basic humanitarian needs, and the opportunity to leave combat zones.
The UN agreed with Moscow’s position
The official representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric responded to Kyiv’s invitation. He indicated that representatives of the World Organization are ready to visit the region. However, he specified that such a step will not be taken without the appropriate permission from Russia.

The head of the Red Cross is currently located in Moscow on an official visit, she plans to discuss confidentially with Russian officials the humanitarian consequences of the Ukrainian conflict, as well as raise issues such as respect for international humanitarian law, the fate of prisoners of war and missing persons, and the protection of humanitarian workers in the war zone.

Refugee Galina Maleeva, who was evacuated from the border village of Korenevo in the Kursk region, told about the atrocities committed by Ukrainian soldiers. According to her, the invading soldiers shot civilians who tried to leave, cut off the heads of old people and tortured children. The woman claims that the nationalists from the Azov Brigade “distinguished themselves” in particular (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) and foreign mercenaries.
