The possibilities we have today at the click of a mouse with the Internet are immense: With the computer and from the living room of our house, we have configured a spectacular electric motorcycle with the equipment that seemed most recommendable to us for the whopping amount of €22,600. It sounds like science fiction but the truth is that, with a deep pocket, it is possible, and you can also pick it up at the nearest dealership just by indicating it.
The Can-Am What we have chosen is Press Issue 73a road motorcycle and the most exclusive that we can acquire: basically, they ask us for it €19,499without transportation or handling or registration fees included.
This motorcycle is a high-performance model: its engine E-Power liquid cooling (designed in collaboration with the legendary Rotax) offers a power of 48 HP (35 KW) which allows an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of only3.8 seconds!
There is a version limited for A1 license with 15 HP (11 KW). By the way, we can choose between four driving modes: Normal, ECO, Rain and Sport+.
The battery, at best, announces a maximum autonomy of 160 km (in city) and 130 km (combined). All Can-Am electric motorcycles are compatible with charging systems Mode 2 (standard household AC 220V outlet) and Mode 3 (specialized 240 V socket) and can reach up to 80% charge in just 50 minutes.
What it comes standard and what we can add
We already said that this Can-Am Pulse’73 As standard, it is a very exclusive model in itself: it is a special edition (the ‘normal’ Pulse sells for €17,199) that incorporates a specific decoration in commemoration of the brand’s 50th anniversary (1973) and includes a package Premium with Can-Am Plus specifications: the aforementioned decoration, ’73 emblem, LED daytime running lights and LinQ deflectors for the turn signals.
In addition, the Can-Am Pulse, for optimal city driving, has reverse: this way we can maneuver with it or simply park it without any effort (it weighs empty 177kg).
A display is also incorporated as standard 10.25 inch TFT touchwhich includes applications to find nearby charging stations, be able to listen to music, etc.: it connects to the BRP GO! App and in this way we can also obtain the latest known data of the vehicle, such as the battery level, the state of charge and its location. It is also compatible with Apple and his CarPlay of a multitude of functions.
Now, it was time to set up our Pulse’73. The Canadian manufacturer’s website is quite simple, and you can add different (and many!) accessories individually or in packages that bring together several and that, together, offer a more affordable price.
We have chosen to use one of the packages (they are not compatible with each other) which leaves our Pulse’73 prepared for everything at a price, yes, quite high.
- Pack 2 above (€1,109.50): With this package we turn our Pulse into a two-seater motorcycle, by incorporating a double saddle and footpegs for the passenger. In addition, it adds a LinQ tank bag, aluminum handguards with their corresponding deflectors and heated grips.
Once this package was added, which we believe is the most recommended in order to be able to share our experiences with another person, we have been adding the equipment that we found most interesting:
- EVSE level 1 mobile charging cable (€459.07): ideal for going out anywhere and needing to recharge our battery wherever there is a simple plug.
- LinQ saddlebags (€661.14): With them we complement the tank bag and ensure a large load capacity if we want to make a longer trip.
- LED fog lights (€401.70): Everything that results in security seems like a great idea to us. These LED fog lights, with 800 lumens, ensure that we are easily seen even if visibility conditions are not good.
- LinQ sports windshield (€286.93): A naked motorcycle offers a very striking aesthetic but little aerodynamic protection. This small windshield does not ‘ugly’ the whole thing but it prevents excessive air pressure on our chest. It is 4.6 mm thick and anchors easily thanks to the LinQ system.
- Touch screen protector (€30.00): It seems to us that for that amount, this 0.3 mm thick tempered glass protector is highly recommended.
- Axle slider kit (€201.27): more protection for various areas. With these protectors we will protect the wheel axles from impacts or friction, maintaining a refined aesthetic as they are custom made.
We can continue adding some more accessories (there are few left), but, in our opinion, with what we have selected we believe we have made a ‘top’ motorcycle. The final price? €22,648.61. Saying that Can-Am offers a 5-year warranty for the battery and 2 years for the motorcycle.
Once the configuration is done, we are asked for a few personal data so that the nearest point of sale we have can contact us.
