Senator attributed a sum of R$ 50 million in resources of the type he indicated in 2021 to the election of Rodrigo Pacheco
Of the 8 Podemos senators, 7 affirmed this Friday (July 8.2022) their position against the amendments of the General Rapporteur of the Budget, one day after the bench colleague Marcos do Val (ES) give statements attributing the BRL 50 million in resources of the type that it indicated in 2021 to its support for the election of Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) for the Senate Presidency.
“The weather for him got too rough”, said Senator Guimarães Oriovist (To the Power 360. “When everyone signs a note saying that they are against it, whoever is in favor is certainly disagreeing with the others”, he added.
In interview published by the website of the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo on Thursday (7.Jul), Marcos do Val stated that, when he had been elected president of the Senate, Pacheco would have called leaders and allies to explain the division of the rapporteur’s amendments that would be executed in 2022.
“And he passed it on to me because I was one of the ones who helped him get elected president.”, said the Podemos senator. To Estado de S.Paulo, Pacheco said he was unaware of the information.
Do Val is the rapporteur for the 2023 LDO (Budget Guidelines Law) and included in the text, which should be voted on by Congress next week, the so-called imposition of the rapporteur-general amendments, which obliges the federal government to implement them.
He also told the Estado de S. Paulo that he discovered that he could indicate the allocation of R$ 50 million in amendments to the rapporteur in a phone call with Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), predecessor of Pacheco in charge of the House.
Still in the 5th, Marcos do Val said in a note to journalists that it was “misunderstood” in the interview and that “there has never been any kind of political negotiation for the election of President Rodrigo Pacheco that involved budgets”.
He also stated that the indication of the destination of the money of the rapporteur’s amendments is a prerogative of congressmen, “fully licit” and “transparent”.
This Friday, 7 colleagues of Do Val on the Podemos bench in the Senate signed a note defending the end of this modality of amendments to the Budget and saying that they do not agree with “this way of doing politics”.
There should be a meeting with the 8 senators of the party next week to hear from Do Val about the episode and assess his permanence in the legend.
the senator Alessandro Vieira (PSDB-SE) stated on his Twitter profile that he will ask the PGR (Attorney General’s Office) and the Senate Ethics Council for investigations on Do Val, Pacheco and Alcolumbre.
O Power 360 he asked Do Val if there was still the climate to stay at Podemos. “Yes sure”, he responded. Wanted, Pacheco and Alcolumbre did not comment.
