Ubisoft is best known for Assassin's Creed, but it has multiple sagas in its portfolio, some historical and some more recent. For example it has Watch Dogs which has already seen various chapters but which for the moment seems “on pause”. According to an insider, in reality, the saga is in practice dead and buried.
The source is xj0nathan, a French leaker who has shared correct information about Ubisoft in the past. The leaker states that Watch Dogs Legion – or the most recent chapter – was not a commercial success and this pushed Ubisoft to put the series aside and block some projects in development.
The leaker claims that for example, a battle royale based on Watch Dogs and that what was created was original. However, it seems that everything has been blocked. Obviously we are just talking about a rumor, not official information. Furthermore, it is not said that the saga is dead forever: Ubisoft has already “brought back” other sagas over the years and it is possible that it is just waiting for the right idea and moment, always assuming that what is indicated is clearly correct.
What is Watch Dogs?
Watch Dogs is one Hacking-themed open-map action saga. Each chapter has its own protagonist (or protagonists in the case of Legion), a new setting and even a different style, but the general idea is more or less similar: large corporations or totalitarian government bodies control the population and the player rebels with support from DedSec, a hacker group that fights against corruption.
Furthermore, a feature film is also in production: we recently discovered that the film has made progress after 8 years: Sophie Wilde from Talk to Me will be part of it.
